Surprise, wonder, confirmations. What I had hoped for is happening: we speak and talk to each other from our heart and with the emotion in our eyes.
I always sought and have always been more interested in people rather than in what they represent or declare. The journey of the “Invisible Mediterranean(s)” that I started in the center of the Mediterranean in August 2017 has the slow and sincere aim of “meeting” people through a location that, before anything else, has been and is a magical meeting place of times, stories, cultures, economies and religions. I think each of us has his own “Invisible Mediterranean”. This epistolary journey aims to gently stimulate every travelling companion to choose, in profound freedom, a first statement on this matter, which, by way of these two words, belongs to him, perceive it as his own or even disturbs him, taking us elsewhere.
Don’t look for the project in the conventional way it is featured in a magazine; there are daily opportunities, by now infinite and with a thousand variations, where this can happen. No, this is not what we are looking for in this journey. Today more than ever, when talking about architecture, cities, photography, art, culture, communication, we need to … listen, expect to meet anyone’s “eyes”, to dwell on that slow moment when you turn your eyes and mind to something you never or seldom do, to ask for it as a gift.
Many do it every day and these ones we have chosen as our first travelling companions.
This is the project.
This is a project! This is project! A project that feeds all the other projects. Generosity, sentiment, will. We have moved slowly, although in a short time, to avoid being overwhelmed by the dynamics of a pointless speed or by the danger of doing what in our heart we would not have wanted to do.
We must wait and stay calm, wait and relax, wait and relax … like when we stand still in front of the horizon waiting for a deep feeling to fill our heart or to bring us a thousand questions, or to make us the gift of some answers.
